At Sunrise School of Dental Assisting, we strive to give our students the support and guidance they need to obtain their dental assistant certificate and reach their career goals. Our dental assisting classes, dental hygienist programs, and dental radiology and dental assistance administrative courses are designed to cover a broad variety of subjects which include both in-class learning and clinical experience. These courses help prepare our students for the responsibilities of a dental assistant while giving them the knowledge they need to be successful in their dental assistant careers.

Barbie B. Patterson, CDA, BSM – Raleigh Instructor

Welcome to Sunrise Dental Assisting School. My name is Barbie Patterson and I will be your instructor for the next 13 weeks. By way of a brief introduction, I graduated from Alamance Community College, where I obtained my dental assistant diploma. I went on to take the Dental Assistant National Boards to become a Certified Assistant. I also attended the University of Phoenix where I graduated with honors and earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Management.

I have had the opportunity to teach in a number of dental assisting programs, and I find it to be very gratifying. It is always especially important to me that I give you all of the tools you need to succeed in this program. Teaching is my passion. I enjoy every aspect of dentistry, and I believe that my years of experience will allow me to help each of you understand the importance of your role as a dental assistant. I look forward to helping you understand, grow, and be exceptional.

Cleshia Breece – Fayetteville Instructor

My name is Cleshia Breece, a North Carolina native and Certified Dental Assistant with over a decade of experience in the dental field. Since 2014 I have combined clinical excellence with a passion for teaching as an instructor at Sunrise School of Dental Assisting. I love to help students launch new and meaningful careers. Outside of dentistry, I am a proud grandmother, health and fitness coach, and joy-spreader who finds happiness in dancing, family time, and lifting others through laughter and positivity.

Kelly Bullard – Fayetteville Instructor

I began my dental career as a dental assistant over 27 years ago, working in oral surgery and general dentistry after graduating from Fayetteville Technical Community College. I have been an instructor with Sunrise School of Dentistry since 2020.

My accreditations include: DANB certified, BLS certified, NC X-Ray certified, OSHA Compliance certified, Nitrous Oxide, Coronal Polishing, Emergency Protocol Training, Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification (DAANCE), and Hospital Board certified.

I am very passionate about dental health and take great pride in educating our students about the importance of dentistry and all the necessary steps it takes to become a successful dental assistant.

I am a mother of two daughters and have two precious grandsons. In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors, going to the beach, and spending time with family and friends.

Our Courses
Sunrise School of Dental Assisting offers courses that will prepare students for their careers as dental assistants and receive their dental assistant certification. Kenyada Parks – Greensboro Instructor

My name is Kenyada Parks. I am a seasoned Dental Assistant with over 15 years of experience in clinical and administrative settings. I am currently a Dental Network Analyst employed at Aetna/CVS Health and a part-time employee with Sunrise Dental School since 2018.

I have a passion for the dental field and teaching others the fundamentals of dentistry. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter, brunch dates with my friends, shopping, and binge-watching TV shows.
