Sunrise School of Dental Assisting was founded in 2007 by Dr. Dinah B. Vice and her husband, Rick Vice. In response to a shortage in well-trained, professional dental assistants, Dr. Vice was inspired to provide a comprehensive, high-quality, and affordable dental assistant education to aspiring dental team members. Beginning with a single location in Raleigh, the school currently offers training in Greensboro and Fayetteville as well.
The school was founded with convenience in mind, offering dental assistant administrative, dental radiology, and nitrous oxide sedation courses in the evening to those in the Wilson, Sanford, Burlington, Cary, NC, and surrounding areas. Evening classes allow students to maintain their current career and personal obligations while working toward their professional goals. Furthermore, the 13-week dental assisting course provides students with the skills needed to start their dental assistant career in a relatively short amount of time.
We welcome students from Winston-Salem, Smithfield, Dunn, Chapel Hill, NC, and the nearby communities to enroll at our Fayetteville, Greensboro, or Raleigh, NC schools. Each year, the school enrolls students in 3 distinct trimesters: spring, summer, and fall. During a given trimester, each location enrolls approximately 15-25 students. This small class size allows for highly individualized training and tremendous faculty support. One-on-one tutoring is also available to all students for the duration of the program.
Our students come from diverse backgrounds, from those with no dental experience to current dental employees, from teenagers to adults, men and women, and people of all ethnicities. Sunrise School of Dental Assisting believes strongly in equal opportunity for anyone with the goal of a dental assistant career or a career in the dental industry.
Licensed by the State Board of Community Colleges through the NC State Board of Proprietary Schools. The North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges is not an accrediting agency. Sunrise graduates have the opportunity to compete for positions in a wide variety of clinical settings as Dental Assistants, Hygiene Assistants, Sterilization Assistants, or Roving Assistants. Graduates may apply for positions in the fields of General Dentistry, Orthodontics, Endodontics, and Oral Surgery.
If you are interested in a dynamic and rewarding career in dental assisting, we invite you to learn more about our programs, locations, and dental assisting as a career. We sincerely look forward to meeting you and helping you reach your educational and professional goals.

Kourie U. January 29, 2019I attended Sunrise Dental Assisting School in 2008 and still today am so grateful I did. My experience in the school was awesome. The instructors were very attentive and always available. Since the school is based in a dental office you are able to have endless opportunities for hands on learning. In addition the schedule is very accommodating for all lifestyles. The last thing I would like to note about SDAS is that once you have completed the program Sunrise still advocates for you. Paulette Jolly is a tremendous help with job placement and helping you along your way. Now that Sunrise Dental has allowed me the entrance into the dental field I know dentistry is my passion. Sunrise Dental has been a great blessing to my life.
