The Fayetteville Technical Community College Dental Assistant program is a quality program that provides the education and training that any dentist assistant could need, from instrument exchange, oral evacuation, to some radiology training.
However, Fayetteville Tech is a general education college – while the Sunrise School of Dental Assisting focuses exclusively on certifying the student in dental assisting. While Fayetteville Tech offers the student a chance to take classes in many areas of medical training, Sunrise includes the following as part of its Dental Assistant certificate program:
- Radiology certification
- CPR training and certification
- OSHA and Office Emergency training and certification
- CPR certification
- Sterilization and infection control certificate
This is a key difference between Sunrise and Fayetteville: classes ver sus certification. A dental assistant from Sunrise will have multiple areas of expertise when applying themselves in their career.
Another difference is the amount of time it takes for the certificate in dental assisting: 3 semesters at Fayetteville against the 13 week program at Sunrise. The Dental Assisting courses at Fayetteville Technical Community College and good, comprehensive, and educational; but the amount of time the student takes for these classes may distract from the immediate need for dentist assistants.
Sunrise’s one-semester long program allows the student to get immediate, up-to-date education while preparing them for the work force much sooner. This saves the student time, money, and stress. The length of Sunrise’s program also helps the student become more efficient in decision making, critical thinking, and independent development.
