Infection Control Assistant

One program you can explore at Sunrise School of Dental Assisting is the Infection Control Assistant. As an Infection control Assistant, you are responsible for giving support services for employee and patient health and infection control services as required. You need to have experience as a LPN, MA, CNA or RHIT or equivalent education/training, with a background in medical terminology, basic anatomy, surgical terminology, physiology, and pharmacology. Infection Control Assistants need to be skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access, as well as a basic understanding of statistics. As an Infection Control Assistant, you will work under stress with minimal supervision with the need for self motivating, strong organizing, planning and clear communicating with others. This is a job that requires high levels of intelligence, integrity, responsibility and critical thinking to create solutions to existing problems.

Infection Control Assistant Job Duties

The types of duties or jobs you may do as an Infection Control Assistant may be something along the lines of the following:

  • Collect and analyze employee health and infection control data
  • Review Medical records and abstract data to monitor quality of care for infection prevention
  • Prepare reports for the Employee Heath & Infection Prevention Committee
  • Perform various clerical duties needed, such as typing agendas and minutes, answering the telephone and taking messages and communicating messages appropriately
  • Handle confidential information in a professional and discrete manner.
  • Ensure the accuracy of data entered into the employee health files
  • Maintain hospital and departmental policies and guidelines to ensure the safety and environmental and infection control standards.
  • Convey a professional attitude with proper ethics and compassion when making frequent contact with patients and employees.
